Prime Minister Stephen Harper faced calls from opposition MPs on Wednesday to fire his finance minister after Jim Flaherty acknowledged Canada's deficit will balloon to more than $50 billion this fiscal year.

Isn't Prime Minister Harper a "trained" economist?
He said during the federal election debate in ? september ? 2008 that Canada didn't face a recession (or at least he played down its possible consequences). It was laughable at the time. Unfortunately it didn't sink his ship like when John McCain said, "The fundamentals of our economy are strong," as it collapsed all around him. That cost him the election, unfortunately not so for Harper.
Then, in January, he tabled a budget with the largest projected deficit in Canadian history, $35,000,000,000 for 2009.
Well, now, a whole 5 months later, it has ballooned to $50,000,000,000?!?
Some economist!
Or is he more evidence that economists are trained in a black art, not a science?
Fire the bugger before my head explodes!
