Raccoons
This pair was just a wee ball of fur in the cherry tree across the street causing the crows to panic noisily when I first saw them last year.
My, how they've grown up.
One of them is rather mean to the other if there's any competition for food, so I try to make sure they both have something.
One-eyed raccoon
This one has a severely truncated tail - looks very un-natural.
This poor thing also showed up with some facial scarring and a cloudy eye. On a later visit, he had less visible scarring but... a gaping black hole for its right eye socket.
Sickening sight, the poor bugger.
Haven't seen it for quite a while, and I'm quite concerned that it ended up with a hideous, fatal infection.
Kid 'coon vs shoe
Crow was squawking continuously for 5 minutes or longer last night, around 21:05 (9:05pm). Long enough for a couple sets of neighbours to have a look.
It was in the back yard, and was squawking at "Kid 'Coon".
Very late for the crow, quite early for the raccoon.
As I was about to take out the garbage before dark, I went out and did that. "Kid" wasn't too concerned, though kept its distance.
In the end though, my old shoe seemed irresistible and warranted an up close sniff. It nearly touched the shoe with its nose.
The crow hung out and squawked until 21:45 - as darkness set in. Very very late for a crow to be out.
Aussie sheppard
I do like this dog... it oozes personality.
Raven
Raven seems both friendly but very protective in a non-threatening way towards her "sister" in the baby stroller.
